I have lived in McHenry county for many years serving as a self-employed businessman and in business management. Within my career I have had experience in law enforcement and code enforcement, crisis management, and completing complex projects on-time and in-budget. I am looking to further serve the community in which I reside and believe that my skills can be used as a valuable asset for the District 1 County Board.
Core Beliefs
When this country was founded, the Founders built a government based on the idea that all individuals are created equal and have an equal say in their destiny. Everyone arose in the morning: the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker, the farmer and rancher, all alike, and all doing their jobs to support themselves and their families. At night, family and friends met in groups in the general store, churches, and even taverns to discuss the issues of the day and the means by which they would resolve them. At a predetermined date a representative was chosen from within the community to voice their community’s issues at a larger forum in their town or state capital. That individual laid down his pitchfork and took the community’s thoughts, desires, and feelings and delivered this information to the governing body.
This was a system based on communication with each other and within community church groups, families, and businesses. Fast forward to today. Some believe this system is no longer possible. I believe it is not only possible but has also been made easier with technology. Email, texting, phone calls, and video conferencing have allowed communities to grow larger, achieve more progress, and address issues faster. We can collectively voice our concerns and apprise our elected officials of the wants and needs of our communities.
What I Will Do
I am running for the McHenry County Board seat to be that elected voice for my community. I reside in District 1 of McHenry County and firmly believe that we as a community can do better. I shall collect and read the citizens’ emails and texts. I shall come to town hall meetings and HOA events. I shall meet individuals for coffee. I shall listen and preserve free and open discussion as granted to us by our constitution.
Getting Involved
Over a year ago I was first approached about doing more for my community through the Republican party. As a self-employed businessman, I have a strong work ethic. Americans, now and throughout history, have to balance jobs, families, religion, and their civic responsibilities. It has always been important to me to vote on local, state, and national issues, and to safeguard our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am ready to do my part and serve my fellow citizens. I shall still work as a gainfully employed member of society and shall spend time with my family, but I shall lay down my tools as many before me have to listen to my community and represent the people of District 1.
What is Important
I would like to do my part in McHenry County to provide an example that other counties and municipalities will look at and say, “Now there’s a County…”:
- That is managed well
- That has a fair tax base
- That judiciously uses funds
- That has clean water, well-kept roads, good jobs, and housing
- That has an educated population
- That has safe neighborhoods
- That has good schools
- That has successful small businesses
- That has large industry, farming, and local commerce
Our county will not be without flaws, but it can be a place where people are working together to raise families, elevate commerce and business, and make things better. This is not done overnight, but starts with communication with each other here in District 1.
